Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued support of the MSC Swim Club!  The MSC Board is very pleased and excited about the great start to a wonderful new pool season.  Doesn't the pool look great?  Did you enjoy s wimming in the heated water at the beginning of the season?  (The heater is off now!!)  Are you using the new gas grill and enjoying cookouts after work or on the weekends?  Meeting old acquaintances and making new friends?

 

Below is a quick update of some of the exciting events planned and recent developments, including an update on our 2008 Membership Drive.

   

Swim Team Launches First Meet at New Pool!!
On Saturday, June 7, we held time trials for the swim team, which was our first officiated meet at our newly renovated pool.  It was great to be back home.  We had a super turnout and more than 20 kids than last year have already joined the Seahawks.  The kids look ready to have a great season under the leadership of our new head coach Jeremy Synder (who is also our pool manager this year) and our veteran assistant coaches Daylin Short and Jonathan Gordon.  Congrats to Jake Parker who broke the swim team record in the 11-12 yr old boy age group for the 50M butterfly.  We all know this is just the first of many records and all star times for the team this year.  There is still plenty of time to join the swim team and partake on all the excitement and fun events the team has planned including the Wed and Sat meets, fun practices, and the pizza parties.  Also, the Pre-hawk team for emerging swimmers starts this week after school ends.  Please contact Maureen Potter for more information. 

 

Membership Drive Update
Before we started the renovation, we had about 180 members.  As expected, we lost members (about 50), due to usual turnover and some members who did not want to participate in the renovation.  I am pleased to report that the Memorial Day Open House was a huge success and we already have added over 40 new members, bringing our total up to 175 members.  Most new members are families with 2-3 kids, including lots of young ones, who are really enjoying the tot water area, and will be the backbone o f the pool for years to come.  There are a lot of new faces out there, so please introduce yourself to people you do not know and show them our MSC hospitality!

 

So while these numbers are fantastic, we still need more members to meet our goals.  We would like to have at least 195 total members this year, and 225 next year in order to meet the projections we gave the bank for the renovation loan.  Even though there are a lot more people at the pool this year, we still have plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable.  Meeting these numbers will ensure the vitality of the pool for years to come.  The Board ha s been requested to cap membership to avoid the serious overcrowding at other neighborhood pools.  We will be considering this proposal next year, so the time to get your friends and neighbors to join the pool is now! 

 

Please remember we are offering our try the pool free for one week and our cash incentive program described below.  Please give the enclosed flyer to a prospect and have them contact the number on the flyer or me for more information.  If you know anyone who might be interested, please discuss it with them or give me their name.  Plus, if they are active members at another pool this year, they can try us out this year only for 1/2 the price of a summer membership.  We our confident once they experience our new, family oriented and uncrowded facility, they will want to join us full time next year. 

 

Social Activities/Concessions
We are looking for one or more people to chair our social activity programs for the pool and organize our ice cream and sundry concessions.  We need some people to help organize and get volunteers to sponsors parties, like the upcoming School's Out Party and Raft Night.  In particular, we are looking for someone to host a Member Reception where everyone can meet and great each other and particularly our new members.  Please contact me or any Board member if you are interested in helping plan ou r fun summer events. 

 

We are also looking for someone to help organize the pool snack concession.  We are willing to split the profits with an aspiring entrepreneur, so again please contact me or a Board member if you are interested.  The more people who get involved in these pool activities the more fun and better it will be for all. 

 

2008 Season Membership Incentive Program
Each member who refers any new family bonded or summer member to us this year will receive $50 off their 2009 dues for each new member they refer.  If you refer a new empty nester or single member, you will receive $25 off your 2009 dues.  Just have the new member list your name as a referral in the comments section on our 2008 New Membership Form, and we will issue you a check or a credit toward next year’s dues.
